The Roys: "Coal Minin' Man" ... the first single from their new album, Lonesome

About the artists

True creativity can’t be easily slipped into a slot at a nearby retail chain or
conveniently labeled on some digital space. Artists who love music often engage
in more than one means of musical expression and The Roys definitely fall into
that category. Siblings Elaine and Lee have a vibrant sound that exemplifies the
best in today’s contemporary country, yet also draw from a deep well of
experience that owes much to the bluegrass music that permeated their youth.
The duo’s musical versatility is on display throughout COMIN’ BACK AROUND.

With their new single, “Beautiful,” rising up the charts, The Roys continue to
draw a legion of fans. The siblings won the Duo of the Year honor at the 2009
Inspirational Country Music Awards. This year they are nominated in that
category again as well as receiving an ICM nod for Christian Country Song of the
Year for “Beautiful.” The Roys recently performed on Jerry Lewis’ annual Labor
Day Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon and have enjoyed other high
profile gigs such as singing the National Anthem for the Red Sox at Fenway
Park, for President Bush at Andrews Air Force Base and during the NASCAR
Truck Series at the Kansas Speedway.

Elaine and Lee were born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and the family later
relocated to a small town called Coal Branch in New Brunswick, Canada. Music
was always present in The Roys’ household. “Traditional country music and
bluegrass is what we grew up on. That’s all we listened to,” says Elaine. “My
grandma played the fiddle. She would play Acadian tunes and my aunts and
uncles would sing as well as played multiple instruments. It was very traditional
roots music. We fell in love with that and our harmonies seemed to fit that style
of music. That’s really what we truly love. Our heart and soul is in roots music.”

The Roys' recent hit, "Coal Minin' Man" rocketed up the Bluegrass charts,
landing at #1 on Power Source's Bluegrass Top 35 Chart, #1 on HotDisc
International Top 40 Chart, #3 on Bluegrass Unlimited's National Bluegrass
Survey and #4 on Bluegrass Music Profiles' Top 30 Singles Chart.
