About the video
This is Bill Harrell and the Rocky Mountain Boys from 1957, with the original
recording of Bill Harrell's own "Reno Bound".
The band on this recording features: Bill Harrell on guitar and lead vocal, Smiley
Hobbs on mandolin and tenor vocal, Donnie Bryant on banjo and perhaps
singing baritone here, Carl Nelson on fiddle, and Roy Self on bass
This song was later recorded by Buzz Busby a couple of years later in 1959.
What's interesting is that Bill Harrell was a part of Buzz Busby's band for a short
time during this period, so he got to sing harmony with Buzz on Buzz's recording.
Bill Harrell's stay with Busby wasn't long, for in 1960 he had formed the
Virginians and recorded some nice stuff for the Starday label, and in 1963 Bill
Harrell and the Virginians recorded their first LP called 'The Wonderful World of
Bluegrass Music'.
